Your next edudate speed date
An edudate speed dating event is online and blind. We give you between 3 and 15 "edudates". You arrange your 10 minute dates on "date day". You tell us who you want to see again. You match. (hopefully!)

How does it work
Our next event will take place on Saturday 16th of May 2020 between 12 midday and 12 midnight.
48 hours-24 hours before “date day” you will receive a message with between 5 and 20 codes with accompanying phone numbers. These are your dates. You then need to use whatsapp to contact each date and arrange a suitable time for your date. *MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE YOUR WHATSAPP PROFILE PICTURE/NAME BEFORE YOU DO THIS*. All dates must take place between 12 midday and 12 midnight on “date day”, last for no more than 10 minutes and be done via a whatsapp video call. The prescribed invitation text message you need to send to each prospective date will be provided in the message we send to you with your date code!
Once you have arranged the times for your dates, there are some rules that apply - these rules are important to a) protect your privacy and b) make sure the speed dating element/format works):
No contact from confirming the time of your date and 15 minutes before the date on the day – if anyone breaks this rule, please block the number!
During the date:
Do not give out your name – address each other by your code “eg. Hello H23”
Do not arrange or imply you would like to arrange a second date
Get to know the person and that’s it! I will send you a list of possible questions to ask!
Time limit – maximum 10 minutes! One or both of you need to time the date during the video call and be quite strict about it. At the end of the ten minutes, hang up, even if you don’t want to!
Very important - No contact after your date at all - again, if anyone breaks this rule, please block and report to @edudateofficial with a screenshot! They will be removed from our database for future events.
After the dates:
Once you have completed all your dates, you will need to DM (@edudateofficial) on twitter the “letters” that you would be interested in seeing again. They should be sent in the following format “code, code, code etc”. We will then check those letters at 12 midnight on date day to see if they have mutually selected you! – and send you back a message with any matches with their phone number and code!
Feel free to block/remove any numbers you don’t match with once I’ve sent you the summary.
On date day, we will run the hashtag #edudate so you can update the world (if you want) on how well (or badly) it’s all going!
When you sign up to "edudate free", you agree to our terms and conditions here. Please read carefully.
Terms and Conditions:
How do we decide who participates in each event? When you sign up for free with edudate, you are auto enrolled into the lottery for each event. The longer you have been signed up, the higher priority place you have in each lottery, but with 850+ members and 150-250 places available for each event - there is no guarantee that free members will be entered into any single event. Priority members are guaranteed into every single event so are auto enrolled and do not take part in the lottery. Once you have signed up either via free or priority, you don't need to re sign up again - you are permanently part of the wider community of edudaters but can opt out at any time by contacting us.
Your phone number may be shared with prospective matches. Only your phone number will be shared, no other identifying information.
If a successful match is made on the day, your twitter handle will then be mutually shared, but your actual name is never shared.
Edudate reserves the right to remove you from the “date pool” at any point. If you break the edudate rules, you could be removed from all future events. Users should report any breaches of rules via direct message to @edudateofficial.
When you sign up through twitter or facebook, I may ask for further verification of your account *IF* it has been a) created since 1st April 2020 b) does not have a photo bio c) “teacher” is not in bio (twitter) d) following/follower/friends count is under 50 e) is a locked account (twitter) f) an application from “off twitter”. Further verification may mean a request for your DFE number and/or a photo of your school ID and/or a “selfie” with date/time written on your hand.
Any contact made between, during or after your date(s) is not my/edudates responsibility. The edudate rules are there to protect you and others so do follow them! Use the block function on your phone whenever you wish and do report to me any specific problems you have (and screenshot me any edudate rule violations). Any data you send to us via social media you do at your own discretion - twitter, facebook and other social media sites have their own encryption policies and safeguards. We take all enhanced precautions to protect all our social media accounts and will publish protective steps we take regularly.
I may contact you at any time through social media or by text to provide you edudate information or alert you to future edudate events. You can opt out of this at any time. Your phone number and other information will never be shared with third parties and will be stored securely "offline". You can contact me to remove your data from file at any point.
By signing up for free, you automatically opt into the "priority dating pool". Our priority members receive specially selected dating profiles - you could be one of them! We may share your "starter for 5 questions", age and general location with priority members but no other information without further permission. If you are ever selected for a date, you will be contacted directly by a member of the team but are under no obligation to accept the offer of a date.
Edudate Hour - this is an optional social media chat session where priority member dating profiles are shared with our social audience. a) No priority member profile is ever shared without additional prior consent in writing and b) No twitter handles, names or phone numbers are ever shared publicly.
If you are a teacher who uses Edudate and/or other online dating platforms and need any help/support, please contact us directly through DM so we can try and help/support/signpost. Check out organisations like The Safe Space UK, The Woman's Trust or Solace Women's Aid.
Thanks everyone and happy dating!!!
